It is truly a privilege for me to introduce Marie-Josée Koulibaly, an extraordinary person I had the pleasure of meeting in New York. She is not only a dear friend but also an endless source of inspiration for many.
From our very first meeting, I was immediately struck by Marie-Josée’s fiery passion as we discussed humanitarian projects and the potential for positive change in the world. It’s rare to meet someone who shares such a deep commitment to critical issues like inequality. Her dedication to initiatives that raise awareness among youth and address poverty and inequality is genuinely inspiring, and this is only the beginning!
During our conversation, Marie-Josée generously shared her perspective on the organizations she has chosen to support, causes that are deeply meaningful to her. You’ll find links to these organizations at the end of this feature, offering everyone the chance to contribute to these noble efforts.
Her selfless commitment and bold vision make her a powerful example for anyone aspiring to make a meaningful difference in the world.
Marie-Josée Koulibaly:
Born in France, I grew up between France and Togo before becoming a U.S. resident seven years ago. My higher education in Business Administration, along with a diploma program in Financial Management, helped shape my deep understanding of business and finance.
Since my youth, I’ve had a strong passion for international relations, diplomacy, and especially the English language. While my dream of becoming a diplomat evolved into a passion for business and finance, my years in Africa sparked a deep empathy for the underprivileged particularly children. My complex personal experience also made me highly sensitive to the challenges faced by young girls around the world.
I am a proud believer and Christian!
Africa is a continent with immense potential and home to incredibly talented individuals. My commitment is focused on Africa, inspired by the belief that this continent long exploited by the West can become a source of true wealth. I strongly believe in the Bible verse from Matthew 20:16, which says, “the last shall be first.”
First, I prayed—even though the application deadline had already passed and I still managed to join the United Nations by participating as a volunteer at the major event, the **ECOSOC Youth Forum 2023** in New York. This event brought together youth from around the world to highlight the challenges they face in their respective countries, addressing economic, social, and political issues.
I believe that political life can be intimidating, but I encourage others to overcome fear and step into it with confidence, tenacity, and resilience. During FinTech Africa, I had the honor of meeting His Excellency Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the President of Guinea-Bissau. He emphasized that competence has no gender, affirming that a capable woman can rise to high positions and do remarkable work.
I feel a deep admiration for the engagement of youth in spheres of influence, convinced that many of us hold brilliant talent and unwavering determination to bring about meaningful change. Above all, I firmly believe that unity is strength. By strengthening our connections and working in harmony, we have the power to achieve remarkable feats—creating maximum impact both locally in our communities and municipalities, and on the international stage.
